About Slow Roads IO
The open road is a common allegory for freedom and possibility that all of us hope to get access to in some way or another. This game provides a fantasy in the form of a clam road to drive freely along. There are no other cars to worry about but even if there were, the point of the game is not how you interact as a driver. It's all about how you interact with the road with the vehicle acting as a bridge between you and it. Sure, you could walk along it, but it was made to be driven and it's calling to you.
How to Play
Slow Roads IO is a 3D driving game about driving vehicles along a long open and calm road using the keyboard.
Controls
- W/Up Arrow - Accelerate
- S/Down Arrow - Decelerate/Reverse
- A/Left Arrow - Turn Left
- D/Right Arrow - Turn Right
- Shift - Boost
- Spacebar - Handbrake
- R - Reset On Road
- C - Change Camera
- F - Autodrive
The goal is to drive along the road and lose yourself in the endless journey. There's no way to crash or damage your vehicle, but you can always reset back to the road if you get too far off. You can also change what vehicle you're driving from a car to a motorcycle to a coach bus. You can also change the season and time of day for additional visuals.
The game starts quickly but is in no rush to get you driving. Despite the draw distance, the road will form ahead of you as you move with the current shape appearing at the bottom of the screen. All the vehicles can make their way along no matter what form it takes. The road can go up, and down, with barricades, and without to test your ability to stay on the road. If you feel like just taking a brake, turn on Autodrive and watch as the vehicle takes you along for a journey.
Tips and Tricks
This is almost on par with an idle game only you're not earning anything, you're just experiencing. You're free to explore offroad if you want, but that won't be as peaceful as a smooth drive along the even road.
