One of the first things you'll learn as a kid is safety and if you're going to do anything remotely dangerous, you should wear protective gear like in Wear the Helmet. Even if a vehicle doesn't look dangerous or go very fast, accidents can still happen and you'll need a helmet just in case they do. You're taking on the role of some guy on a scooter who has decided to take a ride down one of the poorest maintained streets in the world. There are hazards everywhere that can ruin your day and that's why you need to not only be a good driver, but a safe one too.
About Wear the Helmet
Safety is important in almost all aspects of life, the only thing that changes is the form that it takes. In this game, safety takes the form of a huge and hard helmet that will protect you from hopefully most injuries. A scooter is not the fastest vehicle, but it's fast enough that should it hit an obstacle, it can send a helpless driver hurtling through the air. It's not always possible to secure yourself to a scooter for some reason, so you've got helmets and protective gear as the next best thing. Even so, try to see how long you can last without needing to rely on your helmet.
How to Play
Wear the Helmet is a 2D endless-runner game about riding a scooter down a long and dangerous road using only the keyboard. You have a choice between the Up and Down Arrow Keys or W and S which will move the scooter up or down one lane respectively. There are only three lanes to navigate between and the rider will keep moving from left to right. The goal is to ride as long and as far as you can. If you hit any obstacle, you'll instantly crash and the run will end wherever the rider lands.
Before you start, you can choose whether the rider will wear a helmet or not. After that, the driver will start riding. The scooter will move at a constant pace down the road with the distance traveled being shown in the top right corner of the screen. As he rides down the road, he'll encounter various obstacles such as barricades, roadblocks, and open sewer holes. They can spawn in any arrangement across any of the three lanes and the rider simply has to avoid them. If the rider hits an obstacle, they'll be launched forward from the scooter and will either stop where they land (no helmet) or bounce for a bit (yes helmet).
Tips and Tricks
As a casual endless-runner, you just need to make slight movements now and then. The obstacles are stationary and the rider won't gain any speed, so you just need to avoid dangers as they come. Look ahead to determine the best combination of movements.
